After editions in Singapore, Istanbul and Mexico City, this year’s RoboCup World Championships is held in Eindhoven, from Wednesday, 26 to Sunday, 30 June. About 2,500 technicians from around 40 countries participate in the world championship. They fight with their rescue robots, healthcare robots, dancing robots and football robots.
The team from TU Eindhoven defends their world championship title that they have conquered last year in Mexico. Besides the games, there is also other entertainment at the RoboCup. There are many robotic workshops and demonstrations, such as cuddly robots for children, music, robots and research robots. The whole event is free to visit.RoboCup is a worldwide project. The goal of the project is to build a soccer playing robot that looks like a human and that can win from the human world champion in 2050! The knowledge about robotics which is obtained is shared within the RoboCup teams so the technology improves very fast.
