Employees of Eindhoven’s Faces Kappers, a local hairdresser’s, managed to raise nearly € 3,000 for a Dutch charity. The money raised will help Stichting Het Vergeten Kind.
Each year, Faces Kappers selects a good cause and raises money for it. This year, however, there was something special about the selected charity.
Hairdresser Kim Knoops’, mother of a twin, lost one of them in 2017. At the funeral of their one-year-old son, mother and father Knoops asked for cuddly toys to be donated to charity Het Vergeten Kind (“the forgotten child”).
This request inspired owner Melanie Hendrikx. She decided to choose “Het Vergeten Kind” as the shop’s good cause. Cuddly toys and money raised, will be handed over to the charity.
“Het Vergeten Kind”
Dutch charity “Het Vergeten Kind” states Dutch children are among the happiest in the world. But this is not the case for every Dutch child.
Severe problems within a family may isolate children, render them “invisible”, or “forgotten”. Moreover, thousands of Dutch children are taken into foster-care, or placed in special homes each year.
The charity tries to improve the situation of such children. Many well-known Dutch persons, including Johnny de Mol and Natasha Froger, support the charity.
