There is a chance the city of Eindhoven is going to permit a trial with regulated cannabis cultivation. This is concluded by mayor Van Gijzel who responded to questions from the CDA (Christian Democrats) party.
According to the CDA, the legalization and regulating cannabis cultivation is in conflict with European rules. This is stated in a letter from minister Opstelten from the Ministery of Justice. Van Gijzel refers to the comments of some jurists on the issue. They are not clear about the existence of loopholes that would legally support such a trial. As the experts disagree about the possibilities, the mayor sees an opportunity. On the basis of that information, Van Gijzel expects that there is a reasonable chance that the pilot will be possible in the future. In the Eindhoven plan certified companies will hold the tasks for cannabis cultivation for three years.
