Herring nosh (eating new herring) course at primary school?

Tuesday, 12 June 2012
UDEN – An introduction to “eating herring” was on the agenda Monday for Group 6 at a school in Uden.

Colleagues watched anxiously and annoyed: “why didn’t I know anything about this”, but the adult market has already been conquered by the herring trade. But in general children do not have any desire to eat herring.Teacher Linda, was inspired by the Youth journal, invited Wiranda Tonies and Jacqueline Nesvadba from Fish Specialist Tonies to allow the children to taste herring. And what happened: sometimes blindfolded and together with a piece of cucumber or apple, almost all the children liked the pieces of herring very much. What is supposed to be a Dutch tradition actually seemed to be dying out.
