PSV A- and U21 selections win friendly matches

While PSV’s A-selection played a friendly match behind closed doors, the U21 are active at an international tournament in Nuneaton, England. All three matches were won.

First goal for ‘Chucky’
Phillip Cocu’s men got beaten in their first European match, last Thursday in Eindhoven, so the pressure is building up already. To keep the heat out of the kitchen, the best recipe is win your next match. Unfortunately the opponent was an amateur club, and the end result only 4-0, meaning no supporter would feel this is a step ahead yet. Focussing on the positive aspects, though, it is good to point out that Hirving Lozano scored his first goal for PSV, and youngster Sam Lammers scored two. The line-up basically consisted of all the players who didn’t make any minutes last Thursday.

Coming Thursday, everyone who supports PSV is yearning for a big win, in order to not only wash away the bad taste of the first European match, ut especially to not make it not the last one for this season already. If that happens, the kitchen will be on fire and supporters will demand drastic decisions from the management. Enough excitement to start the season with!

Talents put PSV on the international map
New U21 coach Dennis Haar is in the total opposite mode. He lost his first friendly match on July 8 but is now three weeks further in preparation and last week arrived in England with this selection to play for the NT Challenge Cup. The first match, against Glasgow Rangers U20, was won with 3-1 and saw new Brazilian signing Mauro Júnior score a fantastic goal.

The second match for this Cup, Eindhoven’s best talents played against Liverpool. Again, they took the 3 points. You can watch the goals through this link. New additions Mike van de Meulenhof, Gökhan Kardes, Jaëll Hattu, Karim Bannani, Dani van der Moot and Lennerd Daneels all made their appearance, so Haar is probably a satisfied man about that. Definitely a lot more satisfied than Cocu.
