Tongelre residents petition council to keep 55 bus

Tongelre residents will petition the city council on Friday against the retiring of the number 55 bus service.

Locals have collected 900 signatures in support of the bus between ‘t Hofke and Eindhoven station remaining in service. Many of the signatories are elderly people who rely on the service for shopping.

Coalition parties GroenLinks and PvdA have spoken out against terminating the service, saying that Tongelre will no longer have adequate public transport available.

The city council will meet with bus company Hermes to discuss plans for maintaining the service.
