Man and woman remain in custody after discovery of deceased baby

The man and woman who were arrested earlier this month after the discovery of a deceased baby in Strijp, will remain in custody for now. The magistrate has extended their detention.

The man’s detention has been extended by 30 days, the woman’s by 90 days. It is unknown why the woman will remain in custody longer than the man.

The two are suspected of murder or manslaughter.

The body of the little girl was found on 10 March in a plastic bag, in a fire lane at the Klundertstraat. The man and woman were arrested in a nearby house, a few hours later. Police suspect that the woman is the girl’s mother.
