A59 closed due to liquid gas spill

The A59 motorway was closed this morning between Waspik and the Hooipolder intersection. This is according to the Dutch Public Works and Water Management Service, Rijkswaterstaat.

It was shut down because of an accident at Waspik, which caused LPG to spill onto the road, writes local media outlet, Omroep Brabant’s, Jesse from Kalmthout.

Both lanes were closed except for use by emergency services. This closure brought traffic to a standstill.

Traffic in the direction of Rotterdam could take a detour via Utrecht via the A2 and A15. The affected section of the road has since been opened to traffic again.
