Cycling network being built

Cycling is a way of life in the Netherlands. This is also true in Eindhoven. Cyclists are always looking for fast, safe and direct. If it is scenic too, it is an added bonus.

The Brabant province and its various municipalities are working together to give cyclists this. They are working on realising the Brabantse snelfietsroutenetwerk (fast cycling route network). This route is expected to be completed in about 2030. This network will include two routes from Eindhoven.

The first is the Eindhoven-Helmond Route. It is expected to be finished by the end of 2020. Some parts of this route have already been built. The route will run from Eindhoven city centre via Nuenen and Geldrop-Mierlo to Helmond’s city centre. It is 13.7km long and will cost approximately €10 million to complete.

The other route is Eindhoven to/from Den Bosch. Talks are still ongoing regarding this route. Early last year, the four participating municipalities signed a letter of intent, expressing their views on the realisation of this fast cycling route. These two routes form part of a network of seven routes planned throughout the province.
