PSV misses out on Johan Cruyff Shield

PSV lost 2-0 to Ajax in the battle for the Johan Cruyff Shield.

The home team from Amsterdam started the match razor-sharp and managed to pass Jeroen Zoet within one minute. Kasper Dolberg was good for the first goal of the match and missed a big chance to double the score one minute later.

PSV clearly had a difficult time against Ajax without the participation of strong players Hirving Lozano and Donyell Malen. In addition, Nick Viergever also started on the couch and therefore Olivier Boscagli was allowed to make his debut. Together with Derrick Luckassen, he formed the central duo.

As the game progressed, PSV got more chances. Sam Lammers and Cody Gakpo, however, did not convert their chances into goals.

Second half

Eight minutes after the break, Daley Blind gives Ajax a comfortable 2-0 lead. The VAR still has doubts about the goal due to a foul by Tadic on Boscagli, but referee Higler approves the goal. Érick Gutiérrez, Lozano and Malen can all participate for almost the entire second half, but they did not turn the tide either.

The score remained 2-0 and Ajax therefore grabbed the first prize of the season.
