King’s Day is over, and the organisers announced that it was a successful event.

Despite the rain, there was a pleasant atmosphere in Eindhoven, and the markets and parties were well attended. The weekend saw more than 125,000 visitors come to the parties and markets in Eindhoven.

The weather was not ideal as it was very cold and wet. More than 10,000 visitors frequented the free market at the Stadswandelpark. Here too people had to shelter from the rain.

Precautionary measures

More than 200 paramedics, ambulance personnel, police officers, and supervisors were summoned as a precaution. Fortunately, the two days went smoothly. No major incidents occurred. “In fact, there have been fewer incidents than on a regular night out,” organiser Ruud Bakker, an organiser at the Eindhoven Koningsdag Foundation says, “Everyone really came to Eindhoven for the pleasant atmosphere.”

The party atmosphere, unfortunately, came with a lot of waste. Over the whole weekend, more than 60,000kg of rubbish were swept off the street. “The efficient people from the waste disposal service started to clean up our city within an hour of the parties ending. That is really fantastic, ” Ruud says with admiration.

All in all, the organisers look back on a royally successful festival. The plans for King’s Day 2020 are already in full swing.
