DAF reduces production

DAF has lowered its production. At the Eindhoven-based company, instead of 254, soon only 240 heavy trucks will roll off the line every day.

According to the Eindhovens Dagblad or ED (Eindhoven Daily Newspaper), it has been more than three years since production was last adjusted downward. The reason for the reduction is the economic uncertainty in Europe. This makes for less demand for trucks.

The production cuts also mean less staff is needed. In Eindhoven and the factory in Westerlo, Belgium, 130 fewer temporary workers are needed.
