During a freight transport search on the A67 in Geldrop, the police discovered 18 barrels of raw materials used for the production of synthetic drugs. The barrels were found in the back of a delivery van.

In total, 25 barrels of raw materials were uncovered from the van. The driver was a 35-year-old man from Erp, who has since been arrested.

The barrels were seized and checked by employees of the Infrastructure Department of the Unit, and by the national team of Transport and Environmental Control.

After the driver gave his statement, a further 54 barrels were discovered in Venlo. They too have been confiscated.

In cooperation with the Limburg unit, an investigation has begun into the origin and planned destination of the raw materials.
