On Christmas Eve, the traditional Eindhoven Torchlight procession for Peace and Tolerance will take place.

From 6 o’clock on the Wilhelminaplein the issuance of torches will start. The first torch is lit at seven o’clock. The fire that ignites that torch is the World Peace Flame. It has been burning since 1999 and is used to light monuments, candles and lights around the world. Shortly afterwards the journey begins.

History
The first procession took place in 1992. This was the result of an attack on Turkish migrants in the German Solingen and incidents with a racist motive in the Netherlands. Since then, the procession has always been characterized by a tolerant and respectful society.
