Expat Fair drew crowds

The Expat Fair ‘I am not a tourist’ took place at Eindhoven’s VDMA site Sunday afternoon. It was a huge success and drew crowds!

Eindhoven’s many international employees and students were offered many lectures and workshops on how to put down roots in the Netherlands and make the most of a long stay in the country.

At 11:00 hours the doors of the fair opened wide to welcome visitors.  Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers, Economy and Business, was present at the opening.

Lectures, workshops

The theme of this year’s third edition of the event was ‘Jobs for Expats’. In the halls, extra attention was paid to how to find and land jobs in the Netherlands.

A meeting for internationals was also organized, which explained how and where to learn Dutch – there are many unqualified teachers and non-certified language training centers – , how to buy a house, how to start a business, how the Dutch and international education system works.

Attractive

A ‘food court’ was located in the center of the VDMA area, where snacks and drinks were available; a market was also included and of course, there were various performances by musicians who played music from all over the world.

Over fifty companies and speakers will take part in this version of the ‘I am not a tourist’ Expat Fair. Companies presenting themselves to expats included ASML, ABN AMBRO, Brainport Development and the Eindhoven Library.

Missed this Eindhoven ‘I am not a Tourist’ Fair? No need to mope for a year. The Amsterdam ‘I am not a Tourist’ Fair is scheduled for 7th of October 2018.
