Augustinianum wins world knowledge competition

Students from the Augustinianum won a contest to be named the school with the best knowledge of the world.

The final, against the students of the Van Maerlant Lyceum and the Novalis College, was held in the Eindhoven Council Chamber on Monday.

Students had to answer questions about what poverty is, what sustains poverty, and what each person can contribute to a sustainable and just world.

Each school played for Eindhoven-based foundations that are dedicated to international cooperation. The Augustinianum played for the project link with Stichting Bambale in Congo, the Novalis College played for Stichting Eindhoven Emfuleni in South Africa, and the Van Maerlant Lyceum played for the Cambodia-Dutch Organisation in Cambodia.

After the final, Councillor Jakob Wedemeijer presented the winners with the “world cup” and a cheque for 350 euros, which will go towards the students’ projects in Congo.
