First light bulb re-made in Philips Museum

Let’s go back to 1891. The very first light bulb was then made by Gerard Philips in the brand new light bulb factory in Eindhoven. The story of the first light bulb is told in the short ‘De Lamp’ (The Lamp) presentation at the Philips Museum during the first week of May.

The intimate play gives an insight into Gerard and Anton Philips’s method. The Oude Fabriekje is used as a decor, and the technical making process of the first lamp is explained in a simple way. In addition, visitors get a glimpse into the working conditions of the workers from the company’s early years.

The light bulb factory from 1891 by founder Gerard Philips eventually expanded into multinational Koninklijke Philips Electronics. In general: Philips.

The performance ‘De lamp’ continues until Sunday, May 7th.
