In the next five years more than 3,500 apartments and houses will be built in Eindhoven. This was agreed upon by housing corporations and the municipality.
It is about affordable rental houses, with which the rent rises only slightly in the coming years. According to the municipality and corporations Trudo, ‘Thuis, Woonbedrijf and Wooninc it means there remains adequate housing for Eindhoven residents with a small budget.
The parties have also agreed for the coming years to invest in the quality of life in the neighborhoods, and homes are made energy efficient, for example by renovation or installing solar panels. Furthermore, 900 homes this year alone, will be realized for so-called emergency seekers. These are Eindhoven residents who are not registered to a corporation, yet require a home on an urgent basis. Flex houses will be built for them, where various target groups such as graduates, refugees and divorced men or women live close together.
Representatives of the tenants are behind the agreements. They find that this is ensuring affordable and quality rental housing. The quality of life is maintained as much as possible. However, the tenants find that the supply of housing should be better distributed among the different target groups. For it is difficult to find good housing for families with many children or elderly people in Eindhoven.
