A new initiative has been taken to provide emotional and practical support for internationals who are settling in, in the Eindhoven area. The network is called International Peer Support Network (IPSN).
This network of international women living in Eindhoven is about supporting international peers in their region. The members of the group care about the health and well-being of others and are building a community through peer support, sharing personal experiences, group support, mentoring, and guidance.
Adjustment and transition while adapting to a new environment can affect internationals at various times and stages during their time in the Netherlands, the goal of the network is to be the first line of support and encouragement.
One of the initiators Vicki says: “Peer support for people with similar life experiences like moving abroad, adjusting to life in a new country etc., has proven to be tremendously important towards moving through difficult situations. In general, peer support has been defined by the fact that people who have (had) the same experiences can better relate and can consequently offer more authentic empathy and validation.”
As the support network is in the setting up stage they invite people to give feedback. Have a look on their website.
The network is holding a first meeting to introduce themselves and to listen to other internationals on 29 November, 2016. At 19:30 in Videolab, Torenallee 20, Eindhoven.
