Lumens works on independent community centres

Community centres in Eindhoven must become places ruled by initiatives of local residents. That is the vision of care-organization Lumens.

Lumens manages lots of community centres in the city. They think local residents will feel more responsible when they can carry through their own ideas in their community centre.

Now Lumens supports already 80 volunteers developing social entrepreneurship. Coming weekend the volunteers present their plans and results to each other. This is done during a barbecue at community centre De Mortel at Achtse Barrier.

The goal is that volunteers and co-workers inspire each other and learn from each other during the meeting. Lumens has a large part of volunteers who are aged over 70. The challenge is to make also younger people enthusiastic to create their own plans in the community.
