Art project Woensel West with stones of demolished house

The inhabitants of Woensel West were keen to retain the old house on the Stephensonstraat 66. It was to be a reminder of how it used to be.

The house only remained, a bit longer than all the other houses in the neighborhood, but no longer than a year. Meanwhile, the building has been demolished. Calmly, brick by brick. With those stones art projects are to be built, on houses in the district that are still standing.

Many houses were knocked down to eventually make way for a new colorful district, Plan Celsius. The changes are good for the neighborhood, but the residents find that what once was should not be forgotten. A bench, a chimney or an art object around a tree. The residents have plenty of ideas.

The project is in collaboration with the Argentine artist Julieta Garcia Vazquez. There are so many ideas for the loosened old stones now that they all can only be done with extra money. A crowd funding action has started. On voordekunst.nl money can be deposited.
