World’s first electronic pill made in Eindhoven

High Tech Campus company Medimetrics is working on the world’s first electronic pill.

Described as "smart pharma" by CEO Yves Decadt, Medimetrics is working on two products: the Intellicap, a so-called "smart-pill" which delivers medication via the gastro-intestinal tract, and the "I-ring", which can stay in the body for up to a month and allows remote administering of medication.

"In terms of comfort and safety it is much better than current drugs, which are often taken orally and come with adverse side-effects", Decadt says.

Medimetrics was a winner at last year’s Accenture Innovation Awards.
