Supermarket at Flux only open in new academic year

The opening of the first supermarket at Flux on the TU/e campus-site is running a few months behind schedule. This reports university site Cursor.

Spar University actually wanted to open already this month, but still needs to wait on some structural adjustments to the space. The operator is now aiming for opening at the beginning of the new academic year in the building of the studies Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering.

In Eindhoven there soon will be the fourth location of Spar University, but now they are mainly waiting for the construction of various connections, such as electricity, water and drainage.

The supermarket operates with a 100% self-checkout. Customers scan their products themselves and are paying without the intervention of a cashier.

The opening hours of the shop are yet to be discussed with the TU/e. The manager hopes initially on hours of operation of ‘eight to eight’ -on working days- with the possibility of an extension to nine o’clock in the evening and weekend opening in examination time.
