Duck race in Nuenen: 5,000 Euro for charity

About 5,000 Euro was raised by the first ‘Duck Race’ held in Nuenen yesterday. The fundraiser was organized by the Round Table in order to help two charities.

The race is a lottery. The winning number is created by the order in which rubber ducks reach the finish line. The race was held at ‘Strandbad’ Nuenen Sunday afternoon.

About a thousand lottery tickets had been sold the past week. Prizes were made available by sponsors and included a digital camera, an Efteling family pass, a Wii computer game, an iPad and a child’s bicycle.

The collected funds raised by the event were split between two charities: ‘Club Sam’ that is creating a recreation room for disabled children and the ‘Speelkr8’ foundation that collects toys for children of families on welfare.
