Organized crime worries Chief Prosecutor

Chief Prosecutor Bart Nieuwenhuizen is worried about organized crime in Eastern Brabant. According to Gerard Bouman, Chief of the National Police, there is a concentration of crimes against property here.

Nevertheless, according to him, it is fairly safe in this region, although subjective feelings of insecurity cannot easily be influenced.

Last Thursday afternoon Nieuwenhuizen and Bouman addressed a meeting of mayors of 41 municipalities, forming the ‘Veiligheidsoverleg Oost-Brabant’ (Safety Consultation Eastern Brabant), in Den Bosch. Nieuwenhuizen stated that the time organized crime spent lots of money on parties, holidays, houses and luxury goods is past. "They do so in a different way now," Nieuwenhuizen said.
