Substantial growth HTC expected

Eindhoven’s High Tech Campus continues to grow. Over the past years, the number of employees rose from 7,000 to 10,000. Another increase of about 2,500 employees is expected in the years to come. The total number of companies located at the HTC should reach 140.

In 2013, the growth was mainly due to Philips Lighting moving from downtown to the campus. This year, more people will start working at the ‘smartest square kilometre of the Netherlands’ with the arrival of Solliance, a research institute in the field of thin film photovoltaic solar energy. Behind the scenes, the arrival of more research institutes and companies, from the Far East and the U.S., is being negotiated at the moment.

The food court on campus has been transformed in order to attract more companies. Addressing the campus’ international aspect, several restaurants opened their doors the past week, such as Color Kitchen, Subway, an Italian and an Indian restaurant. Early March, Starbucks will also open a store at the HTC.
