TU/e’s team is taking the lead in the World Solar Challenge in Australia after the first day. Solar Team Eindhoven is participating with Stella, a solar-powered family car.
Stella started at pole position Sunday morning. The solar car is competing in the Cruiser Class, where next to the criterion of speed, the car will also be judged for the number of people transported, the amount of electricity taken from the grid, and its user friendliness.
Solar Team Eindhoven (STE) consists of students from six different TU/e faculties. Together, they have been building the world’s first solar-powered family car over the past year and a half.
