Red Tent Gathering for English Speaking and International Women In Eindhoven

October 12, 2016 @ 19:30 - 22:30

You are cordially invited to join us in the Red Tent!

Tribes and traditional cultures have practiced the ritual of the Red Tent for centuries. A Red Tent is a gathering of women that happens monthly, ideally with the new moon, and represents an opportunity to align with and celebrate our cyclical nature and our inner wisdom. During these monthly gatherings women enter a safe, nurturing and sacred space to rest, meditate, rejuvenate, self-reflect, and support one another. It is in this place that women can safely and productively face their shadow self, share wisdom, and young women can learn about the mysteries and blessings of womanhood. Maidens, mothers, and crones equally contribute and receive tremendous benefit from participating in the Red Tent.

Before our lives were driven by fluorescent light, technology, and performance standards, it was natural and common for the bleeding phase of the menstrual cycle to align with the new moon. There are many accounts of tribal traditions that viewed menstruation as a natural and essential time of rest and meditation for women. It was thought to be a time when women have access to more expansive thinking, creativity, and intuitive insight. The process was regarded with great wonder, and it was understood that the woman’s body was physically and energetically cleansing – releasing what was old and no longer vital, creating a clear and welcome space for new life and new insights to be born. This time was considered sacred – a divine gift exclusive to women. Intuitions women received during their menstrual meditative state were regarded as visionary and important, and it was believed that they had enhanced abilities to heal.

The World is in desperate need of the influence and contributions of strong women, and the feminine principles of receptivity, compassion, and intuition. Modern life sorely lacks time and space for quiet contemplation and connection to the natural world, and the subtle but important lessons it can provide. We are increasingly spending the majority of our time outside of ourselves, over-stimulated by a constant influx of man-made information. The modern Red Tent is an opportunity for women to revisit our essential nature, experience genuine connection, and mature in our understanding of our inner landscape and the importance of our role in the world.

The Red Tent is a safe and inclusive space. Regular gatherings provide women with a network for heartfelt sharing and support, and build fertile communities in which to experience growth.

When women gather in genuine support of one another, extraordinary things can happen!
