There are fewer corona wards in the Eindhoven nursing homes than previously planned. There should have been two, but only Vitalis Wissehaege now has such a special ward.

According to the ED, Archipel has had to abandon the plans for such a special ‘corona cohort’ due to a shortage of personnel. At the Dommelhoef location, a department with older corona patients should have been opened. In the first corona wave, it was there, with ten beds. According to Archipel, district nurses joined in during the first peak. Now, these nurses are often working in people’s homes.

“Covid care is very labor-intensive. The agreement is that we’ll also get staff on loan from other care institutions in the region for a special department. We’re still waiting for that,” says a spokesperson for Archipel to the newspaper.

The nursing homes will not be locked up for visitors during the current corona wave. This was done during the first lockdown.
