Campaigning by hospital staff in the Eindhoven region and elsewhere has paid off. There will be a better collective labor agreement for hospital staff.
These agreements have been reached by FNV Zorg & Welzijn and other trade unions with the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ).
Hospital staff still have to agree with the plan. If this happens, the new CLA will start for 27 months, from 1 April 2019 up to and including 1 July 2021. The plan contains agreements on wage increases, rest times, allowances when you have to work last-minute and agreements on early retirement.
Hospital staff from the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven, the locations of the Máxima Medical Center and the Geldrop-based Sint Anna Hospital campaigned for this cause in November. “Nurses work hard all day to look after sick people and make them better,” a nurse from the Sint Anna Hospital then told the press. “I just have a college degree, but I definitely do not earn according to the standards of a college student!”
Salary
Two important demands of the staff were more wages and less work pressure. Agreements have been made between the NVZ and the trade unions about structural wage increases. From January 1, 2020, the salary will increase by 5% and by 3% as of January 1, 2021. In addition, there will be a one-off gross payment, depending on the employment, of € 1,200.
In order to promote the inflow of new hospital staff and to reduce the workload, apprentice salaries are increased by 10%. Trainees will also earn more, namely 400 euros per month.
Recovery time
Employees and trade unions were dissatisfied with the recovery after an on-call service. The staff can now only work after eight hours after such a service instead of six hours.
