Park Hilaria in Eindhoven is the most accessible event for people with walking difficulties.

The fair has been given the Gouden Duim (Golden Thumb) by the Platform Gehandicapten Beleid (Eindhoven Disability Policy Platform). In 2018, some events in Eindhoven were visited and assessed by volunteers. They looked at, among other things, parking spaces for disabled persons and a suitable access route for wheelchair users. The readability of signs from a wheelchair was also reviewed, as was the presence of accessible toilets and assistance for people with disabilities.

‘Recognition’

Of all the events visited, Park Hilaria was the best. “We are thrilled with this recognition. We have been working on the event for a number of years to make it really accessible to everyone. And that also includes the disabled. It is good that this is noticed and appreciated”, the fair’s organisers say.

The Zilveren Duim (Silver Thumb) went to the Dutch Design Week in Strijp-S. This is an incentive prize which is awarded for the first time this year.
