This year, 29 inhabitants of Geldrop-Mierlo have been naturalised Dutchmen.
The ‘new Dutchmen’ originate from Ethiopia, Syria, Somalia, Malaysia, Russia, Afghanistan, Suriname, Bangladesh, and Ukraine. Along with their close family or friends, they were invited to make a dish from their country of origin. This created an international specialities-buffet. The Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo hoped it would help the new residents connect.
In Geldrop, the annual Naturalisation ceremony took place in the Kasteelhoeve.
