VVD: Liberation parade army vehicles should run on biodiesel

If it were up to the VVD (People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy), the cars at the liberation parade in Eindhoven will be running on biodiesel this year.

This is what this, the largest coalition party, is proposing to the City Council. According to the party, biodiesel is better for the environment.

The VVD thinks the parade, in its current form, will cause too much pollution. The old WWII military vehicles emit a lot of harmful substances. This will have a negative impact on CO2 emissions in the city. “We would like to see a climate-neutral procession of historic vehicles during the parade”, VVD Councillor, Tom Meylink, writes.

The party, therefore, requests that 5,000 litres of biodiesel be made available to the parade’s organisers. According to Meylink, the cost would be around €10,000.
