PSV lost to Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening in a moderate exhibition game. In-house, the Eindhoven team lost 0-2 in the ‘dress rehearsal’ for the preliminary round of the Champions League.
Especially in the first half, coach Mark van Bommel’s team hardly got any opportunities. PSV simply had a bad start. The German opponent, on the other hand, scored easily. The visitors took the lead via a free kick from Arnold. Shortly before the break, PSV faced a 2-0 deficit. William knocked Lammers in the air, which offered him a great opportunity to leave Zoet no chance.
The backlog could not be eliminated in the second half. Still PSV got better in this part of the game, and got quite a few chances on getting back. Substitutes Gutiérrez and Lozano also made a good impression in possession of the ball. That was, however, not sufficient enough for a final hit.
The real work will start in a week or so. Then FC Basel awaits in the second heat of the Champions League.
