More than a hundred cases of ID fraud in the first half of 2019

In Eindhoven one hundred and thirty-six cases of ID fraud were recorded in the first half year of 2019.

In most cases it concerns young people who borrow proof of identity because they are too young to buy alcohol or enter a pub. It also concerns people who lend out their proof of identity. This was stated by the municipality of Eindhoven.

According to the municipality, however, they are not aware of the possible consequences. Being caught for ID fraud can result in you getting a fine and being unable to apply for a passport for two years.

That is why Eindhoven is participating in the campaign “Honest about your ID. That will get you further.” from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition to making young people aware of the consequences of ID fraud, they also want to show young people how important proof of identity is.
