Lightyear One, the first passenger car powered by solar energy, has been presented.

Lightyear is an innovative start-up, founded by former students of the Eindhoven University of Technology. At the time, they were involved in the award-winning Stella solar car.

With one charged battery, the car can travel around 800 kilometers. The vehicle is built in such a way that energy is not lost, but is distributed well everywhere. The car charges via solar panels and by means of a plug.

If you want to buy the Lightyear One, you have to dig deep in your pocket. The car costs 119,000 euros. The first hundred cars have already been reserved. Lightyear expects the first electric cars to hit the road in 2021.
