Laptops stolen, Hamlet cancelled

The performance of Hamlet at the Parktheater was cancelled at the last minute on Saturday. Thieves had made off with the equipment needed for the show.

The audience was informed of the cancellation ten minutes before the show was about to start. It seems they were not immediately told exactly what was going on. The theatre only announced later that, shortly before the performance was scheduled to start, three laptops had been stolen out of the theatre. These contained files that were crucial to the show.

This was not only unpleasant for the actors and theatre-goers, but also for pupils from the CKE (The Eindhoven Centre for Arts). They were to have also performed in the play. The youngsters were to have taken part in one or two shows. Some of them had their premiere on Friday evening, others were to have had it on Saturday.

This family-friendly version of Hamlet was to have been on stage for three nights in Eindhoven. Sunday’s performance was, fortunately, able to go ahead.
