Primary school Reigerlaan is the first school in the Netherlands to have a class for children of expats

The Eindhoven Primary School Reigerlaan started on Monday with a special kindergarten with only children from expats.

Principal Geert Simon said that the first day went well. “We have only seen big smiles and you notice that everyone feels at home,” says Simon.

There are now twenty children in the class from India, Brazil, Italy and Egypt. The children are taught in English, but there is also plenty of attention for the Dutch language and culture. The parents work at high-tech companies in the Eindhoven region such as ASML.

The primary school expects to start the new school year with about 130 students.
