The Solar Team Eindhoven will build the new solar car at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven.
The students will start working from 1 March. The team consists of 27 students and has been working on the design since September. With the help of companies and institutions, students will build a solar family car. It is the fourth innovative solar car that will be built by the TU/e Solar Team.
‘Ideal place to realize our dream’
The BIC is a new breeding ground for high tech companies in Eindhoven. Near Eindhoven Airport, along the Anthony Fokkerweg.
Previously, the Solar Team made their solar cars on the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology. Team Manager Carijn Mulder sees plenty of opportunities now that they can build in the BIC building. “The fact that the BIC facilities, knowledge and the drive to innovate come together makes it an ideal place for us to realize our dream,” she says.
In October 2019 the new car will appear at the start of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. That is a biennial competition for solar cars.
