Dozens of truck drivers fined for texting while driving

During checks in Geldrop, dozens of truck drivers were fined on Wednesday.

It happened along the A67. There were checks carried out on the highways,  not only in Geldrop, but also at Eersel, Sevenum, and Venlo.

Police officers stood at the viaducts with binoculars to check if drivers were texting or calling while driving. If that was the case, they were led a little further by an agent on a motorbike to a nearby parking lot. There they got a fine from the police.

Texting while driving is illegal, and recently the penalties and fines have been tightened up.
