Four years after MH17

Four years after MH17

A serene calm was there yesterday, at the MH17 monument at Eindhoven Air Base.

It was exactly four years ago on Tuesday that the plane was shot from the air above Ukraine. In the disaster with MH17, seven people from Eindhoven died.

In Vijfhuizen was an official commemoration of the MH17 victims. There were more than a thousand surviving relatives present, including Prime Minister Rutte and Minister of Foreign Affairs Stef Blok.

At the entrance of the airbase Eindhoven yesterday it was mostly quiet. Only the monument ‘De Verbinding’ (The Connection) recalls the disaster. It was unveiled in March of this year to commemorate all 298 victims. Exactly this place because from July 23, 2014 through this gateway the victims were officially back home.
