Share some peace with a refugee

“I feel alone here, and no one knows me, no one to share my feelings with, I can’t even expect a letter from a friend! ″ Ahmed (Syrian boy) said in the refugee camp in Lebanon.

This is why the Dutch chapter of the Union of Relief and Development Associations (URDA Netherlands) is organising an humanitarian initiative – Ruil een stukje vrede met een vlugteling (Share a piece of peace with a refugee) – and you can be part of it by writing a letter. You are invited to write a letter, draw a picture or send a postcard to a refugee. You can express your solidarity, love and support in few words and send it to the URDA Netherlands office at M. H. Trompweg 225 H 3317 BS Dordrecht before 30 June.

The URDA Netherlands team will collect, translate, and sort all the letters and send them to Jasmine Village. This is one of the URDA refugee camps in Lebanon. Delivering the messages will be done during a fun event in the camp the very next day, on 1 July.

The refugees’ letters and pictures will then be collected from the (Jasmine village) on the same day. The URDA team will again translate these letters. They plan to organise an exhibition in the Netherlands to deliver the messages and show the drawings from the refugees. The display will take place in Pages bookstore in Rotterdam between 8 and 10 July.

Please note: Your letter will be opened for translation purposes and you can decide if you want to have your name included.
