Increase in beaver tracks along river banks in region

There are more and more signs of beavers found in areas around Eindhoven. For example, the nature reserve Malpie in Valkenswaard.

The beaver is shy and isn’t quick to show itself. Yet, area managers of Waterboard De Dommel see many signs of the largest rodent in Europe lately. Especially fallen or eaten trees are an indication of the presence of the animal with the flat tail.

Sporadically a beaver ends up under cars and is spotted in De Dommel or Tongelreep. Waterboard De Dommel has mixed feelings about the rodent. On one hand it’s nice for the ecological diversity, but the animal can also damage the waterfront considerably.
