The Catharina hospital Eindhoven and the Sint Anna Zorggroep in Geldrop want to join forces. Early next year, both organisations aim to have worked out a plan that shows how the new organisation would look like, a spokesperson for the Catharina acknowledges.

This plan would later have to be approved by the ‘Nederlandse Zorgautoriteit’ (NZa). They’re going to investigate whether the merger is going to benefit the patients in the region.

Already in 2014 there was a wish to merge both organisations. Both boards signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ in which both hospitals expressed their wish to a more ‘intensive cooperation’.

When the NZa approves of this plan, then the ‘Autoriteit Consument en Markt’ still has to approve.
