Unveiling memorial Hercules disaster

Close to the Eindhoven town hall a memorial for the victims and bereaved of the Hercules disaster will be unveiled next month.

On July 15, 1996 a Hercules plane crashed at the Eindhoven Air Base. 34 passengers lost their lives.

A monument has been placed at the military airport. Every year a private memorial service is held there. Bereaved and rescuers would like to commemorate the disaster more often but are not able to visit the monument at the airbase. The airport is in fact private property. Therefore a monument is erected in the park at the Dommel near the Town Hall.

The Hercules Foundation Disaster 1996 and LPF politician Tjerk Langman took the initiative for the monument. Artist Hans van Eerd designed the memorial. The revelation is on July 15.
