Slowlands in the Park attracts 8,000 visitors

Around 8,000 people visited the first edition of Slowlands in the Park in Eindhoven at the weekend, according to the organisers. And that makes it a successful first edition in their eyes.

Even more so, when you consider that the weather on Friday was anything but ideal: it was cold and rainy. "We had placed braziers at a number of places," says René Leenders, one of the organisers, "but then people stand around them in small groups. "Saturday was a bit better and the weather on Sunday was wonderful. It looked great, people sitting on blankets on the ground, food trucks everywhere, music … the ambiance was really great, really convivial."

If it’s left up to the organisers, then Slowlands should definitely come back to Eindhoven next year. "The location in the Stadswandelpark, everything arranged around the pond, is just wonderful," says Leenders.

There is a possibility that it would then be combined with Koningsdag: Koningsdag will be on a Thursday next year. We could organise an Oranje Braderie and then continue on Friday with the Slowlands Festival. "Obviously, we’ll need the approval of the Municipal Council and Eindhoven365, but we think it would be fantastic."
