Maxima to open Singularity University in Eindhoven

Queen Maxima will officially open the Singularity University on June 2, in Eindhoven. This has been made public by the government information service.

The prestigious Singularity University from the Silicon Valley in California will open its first establishment outside the United States in Eindhoven. It will be located in the Apparatenfabriek at Strijp S.

Singularity University goal is to bring together scientists and researchers from all over the world to find solutions for all the large problems of this present time, whether health issues, climate, energy, food and mobility. CEO’s of renowned companies that combine technology with neuroscience and robotics will also be included in the collaboration.

In Eindhoven, the local branch of the Singularity University will start with researching and developing solutions for global issues. In addition, national gatherings will be organized from Eindhoven to encourage start-ups, researchers, companies and government institutions to collaborate. Technological applications will be displayed at Strijp S, so that visitors can see the practical uses of these discoveries and developments.

Eindhoven Mayor Van Gijzel has played a major role in bringing the institution to Eindhoven, as leader of the delegation during the two days of negotiations in California. Other parties that were involved were Amsterdam, Rotterdam, het Radboud Ziekenhuis (Radboud Hospital) in Nijmegen and the ministry of Economic affairs. The agreement was finalized late last night.

It will be called, The Singularity U – The Netherlands.
