“Municipality closes tunnel along the Dommel for homeless”

The municipality has put a large fence in front of the tunnel at the Insulindelaan where the Dommel flows under the arterial road. A lot of homeless people could be found there and they had to leave. This is reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad.

The underpass is closed on one side of the Dommel. Only the side that had been appointed as a so called ‘wildlife passage’, used for example by badgers, has been blocked. The other side is left open for pedestrians.

As so many homeless people slept in the tunnel without any facilities an "undesirable situation" arose, the municipality comments in the newspaper. No one should have to sleep outside in Eindhoven as there is enough shelter.
