Eindhoven firm Avular in race for Startup of the Year

Eindhoven company Avular is in the running for this year’s Startup of the Year award.

The drone manufacturer’s latest model offers better control and data collection capabilities than others currently on the market. Avular is a three-man team – Ramon Hooks, Gerbert van de Ven, and Albert Maas – focusing on clients whose problems can be solved by drones. Examples include agriculture, where crop inspection may lead to better harvests, and the oil industry, where the inspection of oil tanks for cracks or debris can be more easily – and cheaply – performed with a drone.

Startup of the Year is an initiative of Sprout, which helps firms find investors. Avular is up against fourteen other contenders. Votes can be entered via the website, and the winner will be announced next Tuesday.

Last year Avular won almost half a million euros from a Chinese investor.
