Eindhoven to ban hate preachers

Mayor Rob Van Gijzel can forbid the arrival of seven foreign hate preachers in Eindhoven, a court ruled on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the mayor banned seven imams from speaking at a conference organised by the Waqf Foundation, a decision the Foundation appealed in court.

One of the imams participated in the Syrian conflict, Omroep Brabant reported, citing a photograph of the imam holding a Kalashnikov as evidence.

A total of fourteen speakers were invited to the conference. Mayor Van Gijzel has been in contact with the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism, who advised Van Gijzel to ban seven of those from entering the city due to their being "anti-Semitic, anti-gay, hateful, and glorifying terrorism".
